Former New York Giants safety and three-time Pro Bowler Antrel Rolle expressed surprise and optimism about the team’s new direction under head coach John Harbaugh in a recent interview with Hard Rock Bet.
“Firstly, I was thrown off by the fact that the Baltimore Ravens let him go,” Rolle said. “That was the biggest shock for me, and I think for everyone else, too.
“He is a legend as a coach, and I know he is a players’ coach. I know players were very fond of him with the Ravens throughout his tenure there. So, the Giants have someone who has the experience of building a team to fit his stature and style. That’s something they’ve been missing.
“That’s not to say anything bad about Brian Daboll. I think Daboll is a good coach, but this is the way the NFL is. If you lose, it’s next man up. That’s just the way the business works.”
Rolle’s comments highlight the shock surrounding Harbaugh’s departure from Baltimore after 18 seasons, where he amassed a strong record and a Super Bowl victory.
