The main storyline for the New England Patriots this offseason will be which key players they can bring on board after finishing a strong season.
However, most importantly, the Patriots need to strengthen their roster by adding depth, and one position it should add to is wide receiver.
New England could pursue a star receiver like A.J. Brown, but acquiring him will likely require a bundle of picks. As a result, the Patriots may need to focus on signing budget-friendly free agents to round out their roster. Receiver Olamide Zaccheaus would be a great fit for their needs.
Zaccheaus just completed his seventh season in the NFL after spending his first year with the Chicago Bears. He totaled 313 yards and two touchdowns last season, bringing his career total to 2,311 receiving yards and 15 scores.
It’s unlikely that Zaccheaus will be a favorite among fans eager for the Patriots to sign, but he could serve as a solid No. 4 or No. 5 receiver for Drake Maye.
Zacchaeus is an affordable option, with Spotrac estimating his value at $1.7 million per season. While he might not overwhelm the stat sheet, he has the potential to be a crucial player in third- and fourth-down situations, helping the Patriots move the chains effectively.
