The Arizona Cardinals very likely will be in the market for a running back in free agency. One just came off the board.
The Dallas Cowboys and running back Javonte Williams agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $24 million.
Williams rushed for a career-high 1,201 yards in 2025 with 11 touchdowns, averaging 4.8 yards per attempt. He added 35 receptions for 137 yards and two scores.
He will only be 26 years old next season, so he would have been a solid choice for the Cardinals to target in free agency. But the Cowboys took him off the market before free agency ever began.
The Cardinals have James Conner and Trey Benson under contract, but both are coming off season-ending injuries, Conner will be 31 next season and he averaged only 3.0 yards per attempt before he got hurt. He is a possible cap casualty cut.
