No defense in the entire NFL gave up more points in 2025 than the Dallas Cowboys. That’s an issue that the ‘Boys will look to address under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker.

Adding a productive young safety in free agency could be one way to do that.

Cowboys named best landing spot for Kamren Curl

The Cowboys were recently named the best potential landing spot for safety Kamren Curl in free agency by Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus.

Cameron pointed to Curl’s ability to disguise his coverage as a main reason that he would be a good fit in Dallas’ new-look defense.

“Having spent three seasons under the tutelage of Vic Fangio — 2021 in Denver and 2024-25 in Philadelphia — Parker understands the value of disguising looks. Last season, the Eagles deployed coverage disguises at the highest rate in the NFL (41.1%),” Cameron wrote.

“Curl, having played under Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula, is a savvy safety who understands the nuances of baiting throws into disguised looks, as no defense over the past two seasons has run more coverage disguises than the Rams’ unit. On those looks, Curl has recorded a strong 74.5 PFF coverage grade, making him a strong fit for Dallas’ new look defense.”

Curl has never made a Pro Bowl or All-Pro team, but he still has been an extremely productive player over the course of his career.

Across six seasons with the Washington Commanders and Los Angeles Rams, Curl has tallied 586 combined tackles, 28 passes defended, 18 tackles for a loss, 14 QB hits, 8 sacks, 5 interceptions and 4 forced fumbles.

Curl is considered to be one of the top safeties in this year’s free agent class, and he was the only Ram’s player named to NFL.com’s list of the top 101 free agents this offseason. He came in at No. 46 on the list.

As a result, the Cowboys would likely have some competition for Curl, if they are actually interested in signing him, which they should be.
