The 2026 NFL Combine has arrived, with festivities set to take place in Indianapolis from February 23 through March 2.
It’s a massive week for the New York Jets. Jets general manager Darren Mougey possesses two first-round selections and will assess the top prospects at the NFL Combine.
Most notably, the Jets need to acquire a new starting quarterback this offseason. They’ll possess a great opportunity to scout the rookie class of quarterbacks in Indianapolis. One in particular should draw a ton of scouting attention from the Jets.
Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson will participate in throwing drills at the NFL Combine, multiple reports confirmed over the weekend. He’ll be the best quarterback on paper who is participating, with expected No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza deciding to skip throwing drills.
If Simpson solidifies himself as QB2, the Jets could strongly consider drafting him with the 16th selection.

Right now, Simpson is generally viewed as a fringe first-round pick. Quarterbacks tend to get drafted earlier than projection based on positional value. If Simpson shines at the NFL Combine, it’s not out of the question that the Jets could begin targeting him with one of their first-round picks.
Mid-round quarterbacks the Jets should also watch closely at the NFL Combine include Garrett Nussmeier, Cole Payton, Drew Allar, and Carson Beck.
