The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly met with North Carolina Central running back Chris Mosley, according to SI’s Justin Melo.

Mosley met with the Jaguars at the HBCU Legacy Bowl, a premier All-Star game showcasing the best NFL-eligible HBCU prospects.

Along with the Jaguars, Mosley also met with Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Detroit, Tennessee, and several other teams.

Listed at 5-11 – 180 pounds, the bulk of Mosley’s playing time in college came this past season. He would rush for 1,004 yards at 5.4 yards per attempt with eight touchdowns.

Mosley was also quite active in the passing game, with 42 targets, along with averaging a hefty 10.7 yards per reception from the running back position, according to PFF.

The ability for the running back position to impact the passing game is important to the Liam Coen offense.

Gerald Huggins II of SI’s FCS Football Central had this to say about Mosley in his pre-draft scouting report:

“Chris Mosley is a running back with above-average linear speed, combined with toughness and quickness as a runner, despite his below-average size for the position,” Huggins wrote. “His frame is lean, with limited bulk, and he shows good change of direction in congestion.”

Huggins continued, “He does a good job of fitting through congestion, with an early burst and acceleration. He shows patience to allow his pullers to set up blocks for him.”

If Travis Etienne heads elsewhere in free agency, the Jaguars still have Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen to lead the way. However, added depth and competition behind those two will be needed.
