While the Cleveland Browns had two Pro Bowl quarterbacks on the roster in 2025, they are not sitting on their hands in an attempt to upgrade the position. In fact, they have two targets already on their board: free agent quarterback Malik Willis and 2026 NFL Draft prospect Ty Simpson.
Cleveland dot com’s Mary Kay Cabot has stated that not only did the Browns like Willis in the 2022 NFL Draft, but they were poised to select him. Cabot has stated the Browns will continue to do their due diligence on Willis as NFL free agency approaches at the start of the new league year:
“On March 9, teams can make offers to prospective free agents, and consummate those deals when the league year officially begins on March 11. Willis is arguably the top quarterback on the market, and the Browns will do their diligence and inquire about him.”
Simpson is the other quarterback mentioned by Cabot as a potential Browns target. This could make him a target with either the 24th overall pick or the 39th overall pick. Both would be a steep price to pay for a one-year starter with loads of injuries during his season with Alabama in 2025.
It seems that the Browns, general manager Andrew Berry, or head coach Todd Monken find the current quarterback room good enough.
