The Cleveland Browns pulled off a blockbuster draft day trade last year that is looking like a fantastic move for the franchise.
That trade saw the Browns move out of the No. 2 overall pick in a blockbuster deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars that saw the Browns land pick No. 5 and another first-round selection in 2026, among other selections.
Jacksonville used that No. 2 pick on Travis Hunter, who had an up-and-down rookie season before suffering a knee injury that ended his rookie campaign early.
Meanwhile, the Browns landed defensive lineman Mason Graham and running backs Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson with those extra picks.
Despite a significant leg injury for Judkins, the Browns still look like they won that trade hands down after impressive rookie campaigns from Judkins and Graham.
Looking ahead to the 2026 NFL draft in April, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports another trade back is very much on the table for Cleveland.
“The Browns will explore opportunities to trade down from No. 6 in hopes of finding a blockbuster deal like last year,” she reported.
While it remains to be seen who will be looking to move up, trading back makes a ton of sense for a Browns team that is in the midst of a rebuild and desperately needs to stock up on draft picks and young talent.
That said, the Browns also need more blue-chip players and the No. 6 spot is a good place to get those kinds of players, so Cleveland is anything but a lock to trade back.
It’s unlikely we’ll have any clarity on what the Browns will do until the day of the draft when Cleveland can assess its options on the board before making a final decision on what to do with its first first-round draft pick.
