Lawrence said the coming months will be about “continuing to try to find my edge individually as a player, and how can I get better.”

“I’m sure we’re going to break down the season,” Lawrence said, “the good, the bad, the ugly –everything – and look at, ‘Okay, what are some areas of my game throughout the season that maybe I struggled with – whether it’s accuracy in a certain area of the field, maybe it’s decision-making –that gave me trouble? How can I process quicker?

“I think that’ll naturally happen in the second year of the system, but I have to put the time in to make sure I continue to learn and grow. And don’t just take it for granted and say, ‘All right, I already know this stuff so now I can just hang out and show up and already know the offense.’

“There is some comfort in that I don’t have to relearn the offense. But there is a continual growth mindset of, ‘I can always find different things that I can master and totally own the system. That’s the next step that’s going to be collaboration between me and the staff.”
