DENVER. (KKTV) – In a surprising move, Broncos head coach Sean Payton is giving up his playcalling duties to new offensive coordinator Davis Webb.
Payton has called plays every season he has been a head coach in the NFL, besides a few game when Payton had a broken tibia and torn MCL/meniscus while with the Saints.
Payton says he will still be involved with the offense, but he wouldn’t give up the play-calling duties if it wouldn’t help the team. Payton says he will still call some plays on gamedays.
“I think it’s going to help our team and I’ll do whatever it takes to support him. It’s not something I would do if I didn’t think it will help our team.” said Payton
Payton announced this while at the NFL Combine in Indiana.
