The Denver Broncos are taking a close look at the top linebackers in this year’s NFL draft.
In addition to meeting with top-rated prospect Sonny Styles, the Broncos had visited with Georgia linebacker CJ Allen at the NFL combine this week. Allen (6-1, 235 pounds) is one of the top LBs in this year’s class, and unlike Styles, he might actually still be on the board when Denver goes on the clock with the 30th overall pick in the first round.

Allen has been a popular pick for the Broncos in NFL mock drafts, but he said he tries not to pay attention to the mocks so he doesn’t drive himself crazy leading up to draft day. Allen did say Denver would be a “great spot” to land.
Allen totaled 205 tackles, 10 pass breakups, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception and one fumble recovery in three seasons (41 games) with the Bulldogs.
Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad are both scheduled to become free agents in March, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Denver select a linebacker early in this year’s NFL draft (April 23-25). The Broncos are expected to hold nine selections after compensatory picks are awarded this spring.
