For most, the writing has been on the wall for Trey Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals for the past 24 months.

With the player and franchise at odds over a contract, some view this offseason as the ideal time to part ways and start fresh.

Trey is likely seeking a multi-year deal somewhere near $25 million APY, and there will be teams out there who will pay it. But could the Bengals be one? Most think Trey’s future is anywhere but Cincinnati.

However, director of player personnel, Duke Tobin, in speaking on Sirius XM NFL radio, surprisingly didn’t rule out the chance that Trey stays a Bengal.

“I never will rule out any possibility,” Tobin said. “He’s a good football player. So, is there a chance he’ll be with us? We’re in the business of good football players, so I can’t rule it out. But I don’t know what the future holds.”

Could Hendrickson really stay with Bengals?

Well, based on Tobin’s comments, it doesn’t seem like it is off the table as an option, and that’s interesting.

He also stated that the franchise won’t announce its intentions to the rest of the league either, so the Bengals are keeping things close to their chest, as they should.

But Trey’s last few seasons in Cincinnati haven’t been good off the field with a contract standoff, so the most logical move is for the star edge rusher to leave for greener pastures.

However, it appears the Bengals haven’t made up their mind on whether Hendrickson will leave or not.
