After the Super Bowl, rumors immediately began circulating that New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs and Cardi B broke up.
And now, more details have come to light regarding why they ultimately split, with a source telling US Weekly that they were “always so up and down,” adding that “this isn’t the first time they have broken up.”
“Cardi is single and putting herself out there again. She feels free,” the source told the outlet. “He betrayed her so many times. Her friends have been trying to show her that he is not right for her and that she deserved better.”
Another Source Says Stefon Diggs and Cardi B’s Relationship Got ‘Too Heated And Complicated’

Another source spoke with PEOPLE, providing another reason for why Cardi B decided to step away from the relationship.
“Things were getting too heated and complicated. Cardi is very no-nonsense,” the source said. “The second she felt that she couldn’t trust him, she pulled back to focus on her kids, her music and tour.”
“She needs stability and wants the same for her kids,” they added, also bringing up the fact that the two share a child together. “They co-parent and the door is not completely closed.”
And with that, the insider didn’t rule out a possible reconciliation.
“They might reconnect in the future.”
Cardi B Addressed Her Relationship Status At Her Concert
During the Los Angeles stop on her Little Miss Drama Tour, Cardi B appeared to set the record straight on how things stand with Stefon Diggs. Specifically she responded to a comment from rapper BIA, who dissed the wide receiver on social media
“Just because I ain’t (expletive) with my baby daddy doesn’t mean you get to talk about my baby daddy,” Cardi said on stage in a video captured by a fan that was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
She then went on to perform her 2025 song “Pretty and Petty” from her new album Am I the Drama?
Along with this, Cardi B got emotional during the opening night of her tour at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California and many speculated it had to do with her break up.
“I do not want to get emotional,” Cardi said, according to a TikTok video from opening night. “I just want to tell you, don’t let nobody take your happiness away from you.”
Stefon Diggs Is Also Dealing With His Legal Situation
On Friday, February 13, Stefon Diggs appeared at Massachusetts’ Dedham District Court for his arraignment in which he pleaded not guilty to felony strangulation and other charges.
He remains free on personal recognizance and has been ordered to stay away from the victim, according to WCVB.
“We’re confident after the facts and evidence are reviewed in this case, he will be completely exonerated,” Diggs’ attorney Michael Schuster said outside the courtroom, as per a video shared by WEEI.
His arraignment was initially scheduled for Friday, Jan. 23, but was delayed at the request of his lawyers until after Super Bowl LX. His next court date is set for April 1 for a pretrial hearing.
