As we count down the weeks to the start of NFL Free Agency for the 2026 offseason, players and their agents will be meeting with teams to determine where they will call “home” next season.
While fans have their own opinions and biases for where players should or should’t sign in Free Agency, the reality is that NFL Players weigh many factors when they make the decision to sign a new contract.
In recent years, the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) has been conducting a survey with members of the union answering questions about every NFL team. The players’ union gathers this information to create “report cards” for every NFL organization.
But the NFL won their legal action against the NFLPA to prevent the players’ union from publishing the results because it was legally considered a violation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Credit to ESPN Senior NFL Writer Kalyn Kahler for getting the results of the latest player survey (even though the NFL and NFLPA comment when ESPN reached out to them about the survey results).
What Does The Players’ Survey Say About The Philadelphia Eagles?
According to information obtained by ESPN’s Kahler, the Eagles are not as highly regarded as we have been led to believe by former players, and NFL Insiders.
In the overall rankings, the Eagles landed in 20th place. This is surprising because some of the team ranked ahead of Philadelphia are considered “dysfunctional” or “bad environment” organizations, such as the New York Jets (18th overall).
The Eagles received high grades for:
Defensive Coordinator: A+
Food/Dining Area: A
Head Coach: A
Home Game Field: A
Position Coaches: A-
Special Teams Coordinator: A
Strength Coaches: A-
Training Staff: A
Weight Room: A-
Many current and former Eagles players have spoken highly of Nick Sirianni, Vic Fangio, and other Philadelphia coaches, so those grades are not surprising. The Eagles training facilities and nutrition programs have been the subject in national media reports over the years.
So why did the Eagles land 20th in the rankings? Poor grades for the Locker Room (D), and Team Travel (F) received the worst player grades. Contrary what has been reported over the years, Treatment of Families (C+) did not receive a good grade either.
The “good news” is the Eagles are still ahead of NFC East rivals
The Dallas Cowboys (22nd overall), and New York Giants (25th overall). The Cowboys got underwhelming scores for their Training Room (D), Training Staff (C), and AT&T Stadium Home Game Field (C). The Giants received underwhelming grades for the horrible condition of their Home Game Field (F-), their Locker Room (D), and General Manager Joe Scheon is not liked by NFL players (D+).
The Washington Commanders have upgraded their player grades with the Josh Harris ownership group. After being viewed as one of the worst NFL Franchises under the ownership of Daniel Snyder, the new leadership has turned the Commanders into the 3rd overall ranked NFL Organization according to player grades. Their lowest grades are Team Travel (B-), and the Locker Room (B).
