The Washington Commanders are getting ready for the offseason ahead. Before they can add more talent to the roster, they have to open up some salary cap space. They did just that on Thursday.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Commanders have released starting center Tyler Biadasz from the roster. The move leads to an $8.1 million dead cap charge, while opening up $2.88 million in cap space. If designated as a post-June 1 cap casualty, the Commanders could flip that and open up $8.2 million in cap room while having $2.7 million in dead cap charges.

Either way, the Commanders will need a new starting center next season. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Biadasz joins a big group of upcoming free agents. Biadasz has started all 31 games he’s appeared in since arriving in Washington after signing a three-year contract worth $30 million.

The 146th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft previously spent four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys but was not re-signed once he was given a chance to test free agency. A one-time Pro Bowler, Biadasz should have a healthy market in free agency after grading 11th among all centers evaluated by Pro Football Focus in 2025.

Several teams will be looking for interior offensive line upgrades this offseason, including the Los Angeles Chargers, who lost Bradley Bozeman to retirement. Biadasz, a Wisconsin native who played college football for the Badgers, could look for an opportunity to play closer to home. If so, the Minnesota Vikings could come calling, as Ryan Kelly may be pondering retirement after struggling with several concussions.
