The New York Jets agreed to a trade that will send former first-round pick Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans.
According to reports including ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets will trade the pass rusher to the Titans for defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat. The trade can’t be processed until the start of the league year on March 11:
Trading Johnson is a significant symbolic move for the Jets.
He was one of three first-round picks for New York in 2022. The other two were cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, who both were traded at last season’s trade deadline.
In heading to Tennessee, Johnson is reunited with Robert Saleh. He was hired as the Titans’ bench boss this offseason and is the former head coach that Johnson played under in New York.

With Sweat, the Jets are getting a 6-foot-2, 366-pound interior defender. The former 2024 second-round pick could be a better scheme fit for New York’s defense under head coach Aaron Glenn in 2026.
