Two days down, one to go in the 2025 NFL Draft.
If the Seattle Seahawks’ first round was decidedly (if not pleasantly) tame by taking North Dakota State offensive lineman Grey Zabel at No. 18 overall, their second- and third-round decisions were far more eventful.
First up was the decision to trade away No. 52 (acquired in the DK Metcalf trade) and the No. 82 pick to the Tennessee Titans for their No. 35 pick. Seattle selected South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori, one of the stars of the NFL Scouting Combine who had a 30 visit with the Seahawks early in the pre-draft process. He should one hell of an addition to Seattle’s secondary.
Still possessing their native second-rounder, the Seahawks snagged Miami tight end Elijah Arroyo, who had a breakout senior season with Cam Ward as his quarterback. Arroyo is known far more for his receiving skills than his blocking, so consider him a big-bodied vertical threat.
Then the main event. Chilling from late Round 2 through late Round 3, the Seahawks stood firm and took Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe at No. 92. It’s only the third time in 16 years the Seahawks have drafted a QB, putting Milroe in exclusive company with Russell Wilson and Alex McGough. Ideally, Milroe is closer to Russ than McGough during his time in Seattle. It’s a crowded QB room in Seattle at the moment, with Sam Darnold leading the way.
We cannot end this article without noting that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders still hasn’t been drafted. Tyler Shough was chosen by the New Orleans Saints at No. 40. Dillon Gabriel, former Oregon star, went to the Cleveland Browns at No. 94.
