The rumor mill is in full effect this week, as the NFL world collectively counts down the final days until free agency on March 11th.

The Houston Texans Need Help at OL and RB

The Houston Texans are one of the primary suspects in this year’s free agency talent pool, cited as being in the market for major upgrades at both the offensive line and running back positions.

For the offensive line, names like center Cade Mays and right tackle Braden Smith have been tied to Houston. In the rushing department, players like Kenneth Walker III, Breece Hall and Travis Etienne have all received their fair share of Texans-based media coverage.

As of yesterday, two more names can be added to the list of possible fits for Houston (one in each category).

Texans Get Another Option With Newly Released C Tyler Biadasz

News broke out of Washington that the Commanders would be releasing 28-year old starting center Tyler Biadasz to save $2.885 million in cap space ($8.3 million this season if they designate his release to a post-June 1 cut).

The sixth-year former Wisconsin Badger has started 15 games or more for the last five seasons in a row, making one Pro Bowl along the way (2022).

Being still not even 30 years old, Biadasz now turns his attention to the free agency market. According to Spotrac, Biadasz would’ve been playing on the final year of a three-year, $29,250,000 contract this season. Thus, any team that acquires him could potentially swipe the veteran with a fair offer of roughly $9-$10 million APY.

That’s a bargain for a starting center in today’s NFL economy, which is exactly why I believe general manager Nick Caserio might be all over this in a week and a half.

Word has already gotten around that Houston most likely will be upgrading at that position specifically after March 11th rolls around. With Biadasz now becoming available, Caserio can now consider multiple financially reasonable options.

Texans Could Target Miami Dolphins RB De’Von Achance

Another bit of breaking news came out yesterday, this time involving the Texans and electric Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane, who just completed a 1,350-yard, 12 touchdown season in South Florida.

According to the Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan Alexander, the Texans could be looking to acquire the former Texas A&M Aggie via trade.

The Dolphins have undergone major changes since the conclusion of their 2025. Including:

– Firing head coach Mike McDaniel

– Releasing star wide receiver Tyreek Hill

– Releasing linebacker Bradley Chubb

– Reportedly looking to trade former All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick

– Reportedly moving on from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa

Trading Achane would be another move in the direction of a complete tear down of the franchise, as they prepare for life with new head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan.

Still only 24 years old, and now being named a Pro Bowler in 2026, Achane would be an impact player in any backfield with him in it.

Assuming the Texans move on from incumbent starting back Joe Mixon, an infusion of talent like Achane’s could definitely help lift their rushing attack out of bottom-ten territory.

If Houston were to consummate a deal, they’d have to do so with a new contract in mind. Spotrac projects Achane to warrant roughly $12.3 million APY when his current rookie deal expires after this new season, so there’s that for Caserio.
