The New York Giants could look to bolster the backfield over the offseason, and they could try to bring in some big names in order to do so.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan, the buzz around the NFL Draft combine in Indianapolis this week is that the Giants are “seriously looking” at some of the top backs that will be available over the offseason, both via free agency and the draft.
Ranaan mentioned reigning Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III and Travis Etienne as potential free agent targets for the Giants. He also listed Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love as a potential draft target.
New York’s current crop of running backs consists of Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary. But, Skattebo is coming off of a gruesome ankle injury, and the other two probably aren’t reliable enough.
So, it makes sense that the Giants would want to add some more firepower to the backfield to make things easier for second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Obviously drafting a running back would be cheaper than landing one in free agency, especially one of the top backs available on the market, so that might be a more prudent course of action for the Giants to take given all of the other needs on the roster.
