Sam Franklin has found a home with the Buffalo Bills.
The 30-year-old safety is signing a three-year contract extension with Buffalo worth up to $7.5 million, according to a report from ESPN (via Bills Wire). The veteran safety is a special teams ace, totaling 13 tackles in the kicking game last fall.
Franklin (6-3, 210 pounds) signed a one-year contract with the Denver Broncos last offseason following a five-year run with the Carolina Panthers. Denver beat out a host of teams to sign Franklin, but he ended up not making the 53-man roster in a crowded secondary.
After being cut by the Broncos, Franklin initially signed with Buffalo’s practice squad last August, but he was quickly promoted to the active roster, and he appeared in all 17 games last season.
Ahead of NFL free agency next month, Denver has three safeties under contract: Brandon Jones, Talanoa Hufunga and JL Skinner.
