Gardner knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a star cornerback in the NFL since he is one.

He earned two first-team All-Pro selections with the New York Jets, and the Indianapolis Colts traded two first-round picks for his services last October.

So, The U.S. Sun caught up with Gardner at the Fanatics Super Bowl Party and asked him for his thoughts on the 23-year-old Gonzalez, who was picked to be one of the Patriots’ game captains for Super Bowl LX.

“[Gonzalez’s] nice. He’s nice,” Gardner told The U.S. Sun while on the event’s red carpet.

“He’s still developing and evolving even more.

Gonzalez was impressive in his rookie season in 2023, but he played just four games due to a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum, with both requiring surgery.

He would earn a Second-Team All-Pro nod in his first full season and then a Pro Bowl selection in 2025.

“[Gonzalez has] got a lot of things that he knows how to do – man and zone,” Gardner continued about Gonzalez’s abilities.

“He’s like that for sure.”

The Patriots went on to disappoint in the Super Bowl, losing 29-13 to the Seattle Seahawks last week.

Still, Gonzalez was one of the few Pats players who turned heads in the game, making four total tackles and three pass deflections.

He enjoyed a stellar postseason, recording 19 total tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one interception, and seven passes defended.

Gonzalez is eligible to receive a contract extension this offseason.
