Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter joined The Pat McAfee Show and was asked how special it will be to have Kyle Hamilton leading his defense, and whether the All-Pro safety is the most integral piece he’s been in contact with since taking over the job. Minter didn’t hesitate when describing what makes Hamilton different.
“Yeah, I you know, I classify him as a defensive weapon. Like there’s there’s there’s guys that play positions. There’s guys that play three technique and that’s what they play. There’s guys that play corner and that’s what they play. There’s guys that you can move anywhere within the defense and they can be really effective. And the closer you have him to the point of attack, the more impactful he can be. Um and so the goal on every play will be to, you know, take advantage of Kyle’s skill set. Um have him as close to the action and as as impactful as he can be. Try to have him be disruptive. uh had a guy similar with the with LA and Derwin. Um and so I’m, you know, couldn’t be more excited to have Kyle, be able to work with Kyle.”
Minter’s vision for Hamilton is clear: don’t box him in. The Ravens aren’t looking at him as just a safety, but as a movable piece who can impact every level of the defense. If Minter follows through on keeping Hamilton near the action and letting him disrupt, Baltimore’s defense won’t just be talented — it’ll be unpredictable. And that’s exactly the kind of edge this team has built its identity on.
