The New Orleans Saints have found their franchise quarterback in Tyler Shough. It’s a great time to be a Saints fan, as things are finally starting to turn the corner.

To make things even better, the Saints need to address the wide receiver room and also try to get an extension done with Chris Olave. But what if a deal cannot be agreed upon?

Well, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, one trade idea could be to swap Olave with disgruntled superstar Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown in a stunning blockbuster exchange of WR 1s.

ESPN pitches wild Chris Olave-AJ Brown trade idea

“That’s why some around the league believe Roseman could target a veteran receiver as part of any trade package,” Fowler writes, “say, if New Orleans can’t reach a deal with Chris Olave in New Orleans…”

The Saints are in the market for wide receiver help, as adding another option next to Olave and with Devaughn Vele for Shough is a big priority.

But, in this scenario pitched by Fowler, the Saints, knowing an Olave extension won’t work, could trade the 25-year-old to the Eagles for Brown.

Even though Olave is coming off the best season of his NFL career, with 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns on 100 receptions, Brown has been a far-better receiver in his career.

Brown had 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns on 78 receptions this past season. But the three-time Pro Bowl and three-time second-team All-Pro WR has put up multiple 1,400+ yard seasons since coming to the Eagles.

He is a big receiver who has great yards-after-the-catch ability as well. While Olave has been great for the Saints, Brown is under contract for a while longer, and while a little older at 28 years old, he’s a superstar receiver who’d be a fantastic pickup for the Saints.

With the Eagles not likely to part with Brown for a small return, the Saints would need to give up a king’s ransom to get a deal done. So, why not move on from Olave if they can’t reach an agreement on an extension?

Fowler’s trade pitch between the Saints and Eagles is very bold. It’s not realistic, but it doesn’t mean it’s not a fun trade to think about.
