According to a new report from ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Arizona Cardinals have interest in signing former New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason.

Garoppolo’s 2025 NFL season with the Los Angeles Rams marked his second year as Matthew Stafford’s backup.

Over his 12-year NFL career, Garoppolo has compiled a solid resume across four teams. Drafted in the second round by the Patriots in 2014, he backed up Tom Brady before a mid-2017 trade to the San Francisco 49ers thrust him into the spotlight. As starter, he guided the 49ers to Super Bowl LIV following the 2019 season, though they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Injuries hampered several campaigns for Jimmy G, including 2020 and 2022. After a brief stint with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023 where he started six games before being benched, he transitioned to a reserve role with the Rams starting in 2024.

His career totals include 85 games (64 starts), 1,304 completions on 1,936 attempts (67.4 percent), 15,828 passing yards, 96 touchdowns, and 52 interceptions, yielding a 97.6 passer rating. In seven postseason appearances (six starts), he has thrown for 962 yards and four scores.
