The Washington Commanders have reportedly signed offensive lineman Nick Allegretti to a new two-year deal. He signed a three-year contract in 2024, and had one year left on that deal. The new deal replace that final year, and keep him under contract through the 2027 season. Allegretti has started at both guard positions, and center at the end of last season when starter Tyler Biadasz suffered a leg injury in Week 17. Biadasz was reportedly released, creating a need for a new starting center. Contract details haven’t been reported, but Allegretti had a $5.5 million base salary and a $7.1 million cap hit this season. The deal also had a two void years attached, with a $2.3 million cap hit for next season. Those numbers will change, likely lowering this seasons cap hit, and pushing more money into future years.
The Commanders are thin at center depth with only Julian Good-Jones signed to a reserve/future deal as depth, and his experience at center is limited. They will likely look at add at least one more player who can snap the ball through free agency or the draft. John Portis highlighted three options earlier this morning that will be available in free agency.
