The New York Giants are going through some major changes this offseason, from their front office to their coaching staff, and eventually up and down their roster.

One player that will not be going anywhere, barring some “insane” trade offer, is three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence. This is in addition to the recent report on the team’s intentions regarding Lawrence’s retention.

Lawrence, 28, is under contract through the 2027 season with an annual cap hit in excess of $26 million. He is currently the seventh-highest paid interior defensive lineman in the NFL, and the Giants could consider his current salary a discount.

That is, if Lawrence can return to his Pro Bowl form after a down season due to the recurring elbow injury that shelved him for the final five games of the 2024 season and rendered him ineffective for a good portion of last year.

Lawrence should be healthy and ready to go for training camp. Last week, general manager Joe Schoen revealed that Lawrence was bothered by the elbow but refused to use it as a reason for the drop-off in his performance.

Keeping Lawrence tracks with the narrative that the Giants want to get bigger, stronger, and more physical under Harbaugh this season, and there’s no bigger and stronger interior lineman in the game than Lawrence.
