The Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl 60 thanks to some incredible defensive play, but also the fantastic performance from Kenneth Walker III.

He won Super Bowl MVP and was integral to the Seahawks’ playoff run. His 417 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns led the NFL this postseason. But now, he’s a free agent, and he might not come back.

With an uncertain future, the contract projection from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer is some tricky news for the Seahawks. While they could try working out a deal, this $14 million per-year update will make such a scenario very tricky for the Seahawks to do.

“That makes Seattle’s Kenneth Walker III the top back on the market,” Breer writes, “and last week we discussed his potential landing spots (Kansas City, Denver, Houston, etc). He will probably get around $14 million per year.”

With Walker slated to land a new contract in free agency around $14 million per-year, there’s a very realistic chance that it’s out of the Seahawks price range.

Letting a Super Bowl MVP walk is hard to fathom, but with the massive contracts on the horizon for Devon Witherspoon and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, among others, it’s not too surprising the Seahawks are in a bad spot.

Not to mention that Coby Bryant, Josh Jobe, Tariq Woolen, Boye Mafe, and Rashid Shaheed are all hitting free agency along with Walker this offseason.

It’s going to be a spring full of tricky decisions for the Seahawks, and the future of Walker in Seattle might be the trickiest, especially with this $14 million contract projection.

That’s a lot to spend on a running back, especially since the Seahawks have Zach Charbonnet already on the roster.

John Schneider might be more likely to turn to a cheaper veteran for a year than to bring back Walker on a big deal.

This isn’t going to be an easy offseason, and the future of Walker in Seattle is, by far, the trickiest decision the Seahawks will have to make this spring.
