Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport proposed the New England Patriots trade Harold Landry and two high draft picks for edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
If the Las Vegas Raiders move on from Maxx Crosby, the New England Patriots are one of his potential suitors. On Monday, Sports Illustrated Albert Breer reported a Crosby trade could come as early as this week.
With that in mind, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport proposed a new Patriots offer for Crosby.
On Monday, Davenport pitched the Patriots send veteran Harold Landry to Las Vegas as part of a package for Crosby. The proposal also included New England’s 2026 first-round choice and 2027 second-rounder.
Landry made the Pro Bowl with the Tennessee Titans in 2021. During 2025, he led the Patriots with 8.5 sacks.
“There has been speculation that Crosby isn’t interested in another rebuild, and it’s possible that he makes things uncomfortable enough in Vegas that the Raiders decide to get the best deal they can and shave another $35 million-plus off the cap,” wrote Davenport.
“The Raiders aren’t getting a Micah Parsons package for Crosby—the former is both younger and more prolific rushing the passer. But a first, a Day 2 pick in 2027 and a proven pass-rusher on a much lower contract isn’t a bad haul, and the reigning AFC champs may be willing to push their chips into the center of the table in 2026.”
Crosby has made five consecutive Pro Bowls dating back to 2021. Over the past five years, he has reached double-digits in sacks three times. Crosby has also led the league in tackles for loss twice.
During 2025, Crosby posted 10 sacks with a career-high 28 tackles for loss and six pass defenses in 15 games.
Maxx Crosby NFL Trade Coming Soon?
Crosby trade rumors with the Raiders dates back more than a year. With that in mind, Davenport’s proposal isn’t exactly a fresh concept.
However, Davenport’s Patriots-Crosby trade proposal came the same day Breer indicated that the edge rusher could be on the move very soon.
“I’d lean toward a Maxx Crosby trade happening, and maybe this week. But there’s going to have to be some needle-threading. I don’t think the Raiders want to go through the song-and-dance of shopping him, nor do I believe Crosby wants it advertised that he’s looking for suitors, given his bond with owner Mark Davis, and his view of himself as a Raider,” wrote Breer.
After seasons of uncertainty, Breer argued now is as good of a time as ever if the Raiders are going to deal Crosby.
“There’s also logic to the idea that it’s time for Crosby, who very badly wants to win, and the team, to move on. The Raiders will almost certainly have a rookie quarterback playing in the fall, and it could take a year or two to get the roster to where it needs to be. Would Crosby still be in his prime then? Would the Raiders be able to get the same price a year or two from now that they might bring home this week?”
Besides the Patriots, Breer mentioned six teams as “keeping tabs” on Crosby’s availability. Those six organizations were the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams.
Patriots Willing to Part With Harold Landry for Crosby?
With potentially seven teams pursuing Crosby, the question becomes what cost will he command in the trade market.
The good news for the Patriots is Breer suggested Crosby doesn’t want a long drawn-out shopping process. That could limit his price.
Still, Breer clearly stated the Raiders are not going to give away Crosby. So, it’s possible a team will have to give up draft picks and a player.
After going to the Super Bowl, it makes more sense for the Patriots to only send Las Vegas draft compensation for Crosby. Including Landry in the deal will hurt New England’s pass rush.
Yes, Crosby is an upgrade over Landry. But the Patriots would likely prefer to keep Landry as a No. 2 edge rusher.
New England’s No. 2 pass rusher in terms of sacks last season, K’Lavon Chaisson, is an unrestricted free agent.
Last year, the Green Bay Packers sent two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark to the Cowboys for Micah Parsons. Breer clearly stated the Raiders won’t receive as much for Crosby.
For New England, though, it’s key whether a Crosby deal will include lower draft compensation or not the veteran starter.
