A former Cincinnati high school football star has reportedly been traded.According to multiple reports on Monday, the Detroit Lions are trading running back David Montgomery to the Houston Texans.ESPN reported the Lions are acquiring offensive lineman Juice Scruggs and two draft picks in exchange for Montgomery.A native of Cincinnati who starred at Mount Healthy High School, Montgomery formed a strong tandem with Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit, powering one of the strongest rushing attacks in the NFL since Gibbs’ arrival in 2023.Montgomery, 27, took on a slightly smaller role in 2025, recording the fewest carries (158), rushing yards (716) and rushing yards per game (42.1) of his career.Montgomery was drafted by the Chicago Bears in third round of the 2019 NFL Draft and spent the first four seasons of his career in the Windy City, before signing with the Lions in 2023.In Houston, Montgomery will join Woody Marks in the Texans’ backfield. Marks rushed for 703 yards and two touchdowns in 2025 as a rookie.
