The Wisconsin Badgers are set to hire Jacksonville Jaguars staffer Ari Confesor as their new wide receivers coach, per CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Wisconsin’s previous wide receivers coach, Jordan Reid, was hired by the Atlanta Falcons.

Confesor served as Wake Forest’s wide receivers coach from 2023-2024 before joining the Jaguars’ staff in 2025 through the NFL’s Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship program. He spent the 2025 offseason in Jacksonville and stayed on during the season, overseeing the wide receivers unit.

Before beginning his coaching career in 2009, Confesor was a standout receiver at Holy Cross, as he was named a two-time All-American. His first coaching gig came at Rhode Island before stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Holy Cross, Air Force, Wake Forest and Jacksonville before landing with the Badgers.

Confesor may have his hands full as the Badgers’ wide receivers coach, as the passing attack was abysmal at Wisconsin a season ago. They ranked 132nd out of 136 teams in passing yards per game. Their leading wide receiver, Vinny Anthony II, registered just 31 grabs for 391 yards and a touchdown as the quarterbacking unit threw just nine touchdowns versus 13 interceptions.

But in Confesor, head coach Luke Fickell is bringing in a coach with experience in both the college and pro ranks as they aim to improve upon a porous 2025 campaign on the offensive side of the ball.
