The Chicago Bears were stunned when starting center Drew Dalman decided to retire after just one season. One of Chicago’s prized free agent pickups in the 2025 offseason, Dalman signed a three-year deal.

He played just the one season in Chicago, earning a Pro Bowl nod for the Bears. Dalman helped lead an offensive line that was among the best in the NFL including protecting Caleb Williams and leading the way for the run game.

Chicago now needs to find a replacement as center is a crucial need once again this offseason. But after the news broke, Williams himself took to social media to drop his reaction to Dalman retiring.

During the season, Williams’ gave his offensive line the nickname of “The Avengers” as they all gelled together to become of the best units. Dalman earned the nickname “Hulk” due to his strength. Now, Williams is taking to social media to say goodbye to the Hulk.

Here is what Williams posted:

🥲 Hulk…

That’s tough to see as the quarterback just lost one of his key teammates. It’s no secret that Dalman played a big role in helping the Bears’ offensive line turn it around this past season. He helped with Williams’ development as well.

Fixing this issue will now be a priority for Ryan Poles, Ben Johnson and the Bears’ brass. Not only for Williams’ development, but for the run game which was third in the NFL last season. Let’s see if they can do it again this offseason and find a good starter to anchor that line.
