With NFL free agency on the horizon, let’s begin tracking the early rumors and reports surrounding the Indianapolis Colts.
On Monday, March 9th, at 12:00 PM ET, the NFL’s legal tampering window opens. At this point, free agents can begin negotiating deals with new teams.
Then on March 11th, at 4:00 PM ET, free agency officially opens, and any agreed-upon deals over the previous two days become official at that time.
Before free agency arrives, however, the Colts have some work to do with the salary cap. After using the transition tag on Daniel Jones, Indianapolis is now over the salary cap. Chris Ballard will have to create some operating room in the coming days.
As of now, here are the latest reports and rumors surrounding the Colts. We will update this article as new info comes in.

But now, at this point, I’ve kind of earned the right to explore free agency. See what’s out there and make a decision that’s best for my career and my family.”
Latest update on Alec Pierce
With Jones being tagged, Pierce is currently set to hit the open market, unless he and the Colts can agree to a new deal before Monday. On Tuesday evening, Ian Rapoport had this to say:
“The Colts have made a big offer to Alec Pierce,” Rapoport said. “They’re going to try to get that one done, but he’s got like five days until free agency. Hard to imagine that Alec Pierce agrees to a deal now when he’s able to talk to anyone in the NFL in just a couple days.”
