The Chicago Bears started what could be the first of several trades involving high-profile wide receivers this offseason.

Chicago sent former Pro Bowl wideout DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick. The Bears also sent a 2026 fifth-rounder Buffalo’s way was well.

The move gives the Bills a legitimate No. 1 wideout for the first time since trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans two seasons ago. It also gives Chicago more draft capital as the team looks to add a few more pieces around star QB Caleb Williams to contend for a Super Bowl next season.

In moving Moore, the Bears shed $24.5 million in cap space and opened the door for young WRs Rome Odunze and Luther Burden to play bigger roles next year. And it doesn’t look like Moore is the only move the Bears are eyeing this offseason.

“I do not get the sense the #Bears are done on the trade market….,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz wrote on X.

It’s been reported Chicago has received some trade interest in backup QB Tyson Bagent, and with Williams firmly entrenched as the franchise guy, it would make sense for the Bears to flip Bagent to a QB-needy team for extra draft capital.

Multiple reports also indicate the Bears are receiving trade calls on offensive tackle Braxton Jones, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, and defensive tackle Gervon Dexter as well. It wouldn’t be all that surprising if Chicago flipped one or more of those players to stockpile more draft capital and upgrade at other positions.

And the trade road doesn’t just go one way.

The Bears’ name has also come up in trade rumors regarding Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby.

It’s no secret Chicago needs pass-rush help — the team posted the seventh-fewest sacks (35) in the league last year — and many expect the Raiders to quickly move on from Crosby after their relationship soured fairly rapidly in a very public way.

When the trade news was first announced, the reaction seemed to be a 50/50 split about whether it was a good move for Chicago.

But after the trade details were announced — and it was revealed the team acquired an extra second-rounder, which gives the team one first, two seconds, a third, a fourth, and two seventh-round picks — many changed their tune.

Several people took to social media to share some pretty strong reactions to the deal.

“I’m sorry Chicago gets a WHAT,” NFL analyst Annie Agar wrote.

“Wow a 2nd is actually way more than I thought he’d go for,” Yahoo Sports’ Nate Tice added.

“A lot of owners fired their HCs… but kept the GMs. wonder if those GMs now feel massive pressure to succeed now or be fired next JAN & won’t care as much about future assets? that’s the only way someone could talk themselves into thinking a 29-yr old DJ Moore = a 2nd round pk,” NFL analyst Warren Sharp remarked.

“NO [expletive] WAY WE GOT A 2ND ROUND PICK. RYAN POLES FLEECE,” one fan exclaimed.

“A 2ND ??? POLES WOW,” another fan rejoiced.

“Fleeced becomes the fleecer. Poles learning on the job,” one user posted.

“A 2NDDD wow oka im happy,” another user replied.
