The college football offseason is in a relatively low-news cycle. However, Thursday dropped a big new bomb.
It was reported that the NCAA, a month after being overruled, has decided to appeal the Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss case. This now puts Chambliss’ 2026 in jeopardy as the NCAA aims to push this case further.

Chambliss was granted an injunction in February with the basis that the NCAA ignored “evidence” of Chambliss’ medical circumstances. He missed an entire season at Ferris State due to this before transferring to Ole Miss.

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss talks with supporters after the hearing of Chambliss in his lawsuit against the NCAA at Calhoun County Courthouse in Pittsboro, Miss., on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026. Chambliss was granted a preliminary injunction against the NCAA.
However, there were some questionable circumstances stemming from the court. For one, the judge presiding over it is an Ole Miss alumni.
The other concern was the allegation Chambliss signed a football for the judge during recess. These are very questionable things involved given the circumstances of the judge’s ruling.

The NCAA might aim to ensure these were a conflict of interest to get their case heard. They reportedly want this case moved quickly.
If the appeals court rules in favor of Chambliss, he and Ole Miss will lose out on his college football in 2026. He will also have his professional career in jeopardy as he didn’t participate in the NFL Scouting Combine.
There will be some twists and turns potentially in NCAA vs. Chambliss. Will the NCAA win this appeal?
