Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport proposed the New England Patriots trade Harold Landry and two high draft picks for edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
The Buffalo Bills lost out on the Maxx Crosby sweepstakes, and will instead watch him head to an AFC rival.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Las Vegas Raiders will be shipping the star edge rusher to the Baltimore Ravens, where he will help a defense that struggled at times as the team missed out on the playoffs in 2025.
“ESPN sources: the Raiders agreed to trade five-time Pro-Bowl DE Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks,” Schefter shared in a post on X. “The trade cannot be processed until next week, but it is in place. And Crosby is expected to be a Raven with two 1s back to Vegas.”
The Bills had been named as potential contenders to land Crosby, but may have balked at the asking price.
Maxx Crosby Nearly Went to the NFC
The Bills nearly avoided watching Crosby head to an AFC rival, with Schefter reporting that the Cowboys made a strong bid before getting beat out by the Ravens.
“The Cowboys were willing to offer a first- and second-round pick to the Raiders for Maxx Crosby but, logically and understandably, Las Vegas opted for the two first-round picks from the Ravens,” Schefter posted on X.
The move is a major investment for the Ravens, who had been among the top Super Bowl contenders in recent seasons before struggling in 2025. They have met the Bills twice in the playoffs, with Buffalo beating them in the divisional round in 2021 and again in 2024. The Bills fell short of the Super Bowl, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in both playoff runs.
With quarterback Patrick Mahomes returning to the Chiefs after an injury-shortened season and the Ravens reloading, the Bills could face a challenging AFC landscape in 2026.
Bills Fell Out of Contention for Maxx Crosby
Though the Bills had been linked to Crosby, they apparently bowed out in the final days before he was shipped to Baltimore. Schefter said in an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show” that the Bills pulled out of the running around the time they landed wide receiver DJ Moore in a trade with the Chicago Bears.
Competition would have been tight for the Bills, who already lost their second-round pick in the Moore trade. SI.com insider Albert Breer said on the “Rich Eisen Show” on Wednesday that as many as a dozen teams were inquiring about Crosby.
“Obviously, calls have come in (for Crosby),” Breer said. “I think a quarter of the league, if not more, is interested in trading for him at various prices, and now the question is, which way this goes.”
After landing Moore, the Bills made a series of subtractions in the name of saving salary cap space. The team announced on Friday that they were parting ways with cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Taron Johnson, safety Taylor Rapp, and wide receiver Curtis Samuel.
The Bills are expected to make more moves, which could include a contract restructure for quarterback Josh Allen and either a restructure, pay cut, or release for veteran tight end Dawson Knox.
