For the first time in his NFL career, former Texas A&M star wide receiver Mike Evans will not be suiting up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As he enters Year 13, the future Hall of Famer is headed to the West Coast to continue one of the most productive careers of his generation.

On Monday, it was announced that Evans is signing a three‑year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, officially closing the book on a historic era in Tampa. Evans departs as the Buccaneers’ all‑time leader in nearly every major receiving category. Although his streak of 1,000‑yard seasons ended last year due to injury, he made it clear he still had plenty left in the tank and chose to test the free‑agent market.

In San Francisco, Evans brings a wealth of experience, production, and reliability to an offense that needed another trustworthy target to ease the load on Christian McCaffrey and quarterback Brock Purdy. It’s an ideal landing spot for Evans at this stage of his career, and the 49ers are adding a proven red‑zone weapon with 105 career touchdowns.

According to reports, the deal is worth $42.4 million over three years, including $16.3 million guaranteed.
