NFL free agency saw the New Orleans Saints add tight end Noah Fant on Monday. While the signing is not official until Wednesday, the start of the new league year, the Saints moved decisively to give a new weapon to young quarterback Tyler Shough. The 28-year-old Fant will team with Juwan Johnson to give New Orleans a dual receiving threat at the tight end position.

Fant got a two-year deal from the Saints. The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov reported on Tuesday that Fant’s contract is worth a total of $8.75 million with $4.5 million guaranteed. New Orleans will be the fourth team Fant has played for as he enters his eighth season.

A collegiate star with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Fant was the 20th selection in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos. He was with the Broncos for three years, catching 170 passes for 1,905 yards and 10 touchdowns. Fant was part of the 2022 trade to the Seattle Seahawks that involved quarterback Russell Wilson going to the Broncos. He played three seasons in Seattle, where he had 130 receptions for 1,400 yards and 5 scores. Fant was signed to a one-year free agent contract by the Cincinnati Bengals last offseason. He’d proceed to have 34 catches for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns. Over his seven-year career, Fant has 334 receptions for 3,593 yards and 18 scores.
