Fresh off a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks, Riq Woolen is heading to another contender.

The young cornerback has agreed to a one-year deal to join the Philadelphia Eagles, per multiple reports. The contract is reportedly worth up to $15 million.

Woolen joins an already strong Eagles defense that is only one season removed from a Super Bowl win of their own. Philadelphia did lose Reed Blankenship already in free agency, with the 27-year-old safety agreeing to sign with the Houston Texans on Monday.

Woolen was selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and stormed onto the scene as one of the league’s best defensive rookies. He started in every game, led the league with six interceptions and earned his first Pro Bowl nod.

Comparatively, this was a slower year for Woolen, who ended with 33 solo tackles and only one interception. But Woolen slotted well into the Seahawks’ infamous “Dark Side” defense, as the team put together one of the strongest NFL defenses since Seattle’s Legion of Boom.

Woolen and the Seahawks’ defense drove the team all the way to a dominant Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots, giving the 26-year-old cornerback his first ring.

It’s already been a tough free agency period for the defending champs, though: In addition to Woolen, the Seahawks lost running back and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III to the Kansas City Chiefs and defensive end Boye Mafe to the Cincinnati Bengals, plus another member of the secondary, with safety Coby Bryant signing with the Chicago Bears.
