The San Francisco 49ers haven’t been overly active during the league’s legal-tampering window, which opened Monday, as they’d only agreed to terms with two outside free agents by Tuesday night.
However, as many 49ers fans were settling down for the night, NBC Sports’ Dave Zangaro reported that San Francisco agreed to a one-year deal with offensive lineman Brett Toth.

Toth, 29, played at Army from 2014-17 before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019. Since entering the league, he’s had three stints with the Eagles (2019, 2020-23 and 2023-26) while he also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals (2019-20) and Carolina Panthers (2023).
In his career, Toth has appeared in 37 games and started six. While he began as an offensive tackle, he’s moved to guard and even played some center in recent years. With Spencer Burford, Ben Bartch and Matt Hennessy all able to sign with other teams, Toth may be in line to start at left guard.
