Here’s another stop for Tyler Shough on the media circuit. The New Orleans Saints quarterback sat down with Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs and his brother Caleb Downs, the former Ohio State Buckeyes safety some analysts see as the best prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft. Shough joined their Downs 2 Business YouTube show for a quick conversation about Shough’s experience in New Orleans, his college career, and what he’d like to see his team do in the 2026 draft.

Naturally, the elder Downs suggested the possibility of the Saints drafting his younger brother Caleb, noting that his former Colts teammate Julian Blackmon is already in New Orleans. Shough gave his fellow 2025 draft pick Jonas Sanker a shout out (“Did really well this year. He was balling.”) as well as veteran starter Justin Reid: “We got a good group, but who knows? (If) you got Caleb on the board.” That led to the safety clapping in agreement.

In a previous episode, Downs’ college teammate Carnell Tate brought up the Saints as an ideal landing spot. The wide receiver is one of this year’s top prospects at his position and could very well be the pick at No. 8. For his part, Shough would be happy to get either one of the two Buckeyes in black and gold.

“You can’t go wrong with Ohio State, whether it’s Caleb or Carnell,” Shough grinned. “I think he’s one of, if not the best receivers in the draft. What he’s been able to do, especially at that age, I think he’s only going to keep getting better. It’ll be a tough decision with these two guys. We’ll see what happens. I know he’d be a good get for sure.”

Tate just turned 21 in January but caught 121 passes for 1,872 yards and 14 touchdowns at Ohio State. The Saints have a good history drafting wide receivers from thee Buckeyes like Chris Olave and Michael Thomas, so maybe that pipeline stays open. Or maybe they go in another direction with Downs. The brothers are from Atlanta but chose the Saints as their team growing up, and they still feel bitter about some dramatic playoff losses. If he ends up in New Orleans, Downs just might make it his mission to go looking for payback.
