The defensive line has been a top priority this offseason for the San Francisco 49ers. They have recently signed a Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle to bolster it.

Cowboys defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa has agreed to join the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. San Francisco finished last in the NFL in sacks (20), 31st in pressures, and 29th in pass rush win rate (29.2%).

The moves give them a much-needed boost for getting after opposing quarterbacks. The 49ers were only able to manage 4.5 sacks from the defensive tackle positions last season.

Odighizuwa doesn’t get a jaw-dropping amount of sacks, but what he does do well is put hits on the QB. Over the past five seasons, Odighizuwa ranks fourth in quarterback hits (81) and 10th in pass rush win rate (11.5%) among defensive tackles.

With the move, the Dallas Cowboys will absorb $16 million in dead cap money, while opening up $4.75 million in salary cap space. The 49ers will have Odighizuwa under contract until the 2028 season with a salary of just over $16 million for 2026, then increasing to $20 million for the next two seasons.

During this offseason, Odighizuwa had some work done on an elbow, but is expected to be ready for camp with the Niners.
