Acquiring pass rusher Trey Hendrickson and almost acquiring Maxx Crosby before the trade for him fell through have made this an atypical offseason for Baltimore.

Often, the Ravens ease into free agency. This year, they’ve sprinted out of the blocks.

They’ve acquired not only Hendrickson but guard John Simpson, safety Jaylinn Hawkins, blocking tight end Durham Smythe, and guard/center Jovaughn Gwyn. They’ve re-signed cornerback Chidobe Awuzie and backup quarterback Tyler Huntley.

DeCosta feels the Ravens have already positioned themselves well heading into next month’s draft.

“I think we’ve filed some holes in the depth chart,” DeCosta said. “We’ve added a lot of talent, which should make us more strategic and more focused in the draft.

“I think this team’s going to look different come September. We’re excited about it.”
