Dianna Russini reports the Eagles will not trade A.J. Brown at this time after multiple conversations with the Rams and Patriots. Both teams remain interested, but any potential move could heat up closer to June 1. The news comes as Philadelphia and Dallas Goedert pushed his contract void deadline to Monday, March 16, giving both sides more time to work out a deal. According to Russini, the Patriots and Rams were making strong pushes to acquire Brown. No deal has been reached as negotiations continue.

At least two teams — the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams — in recent weeks discussed trading for Brown, whose frustrations in Philadelphia were a running subplot of the Eagles’ 2025 season.

A league source believed the Eagles were trying to get multiple teams competing for Brown before free agency began, but with an incredibly high asking price. Early on, the receiver market moved elsewhere, though, with the Buffalo Bills trading for DJ Moore and New England signing Romeo Doubs as free agency began. The Rams continued to wait and monitor Brown’s situation.

Eagles’ GM Howie Roseman has made it clear that the Eagles would prefer not to trade A.J. Brown and will only consider a move if they receive what they view as fair value. Goedert was not listed as a free agent on Wednesday after the void date on his contract was pushed to Friday, giving the Eagles time to negotiate an extension. Roseman said the Eagles are losing lesser-talented players, so the team can retain elite talent with contracts looming.

As we’ve previously stated, according to Over The Cap, if Brown gets traded before June 1, the Eagles would incur a dead cap charge of $43,515,106. If he remains on the roster in 2026, Brown would count for $23,393,497 against the salary cap. If he’s traded after June 1, the dead cap hit would be $43,515,106, with $27,161,609 counting towards 2027’s cap as well.

Brown has earned All-Pro honors, Pro Bowl honors, 1,400+ yards twice, and amassed 5,000+ yards receiving since joining the Eagles. Brown has been the subject of trade rumors, and that’ll need to be addressed.
