New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye had a new look when meeting with his new teammates at the introductory press conference for the recent free agent acquisitions. The typically clean-shaven 23-year-old quarterback was sporting a beard.
Since the Patriots’ disappointing Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Maye has been traveling and enjoying some time off. But the fact that he was in the building to greet his new teammates likely also means he’s itching to get back to work.
There is a strong foundation for him to build on in 2026 after improving to a 14-3 record, winning three playoff games, appearing in a Super Bowl and coming within one vote of tying Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford for the NFL MVP award.
Patriots fans quickly spotted Maye’s beard and commented on the new look. One fan shared an edited image of Maye with a fully grown beard posing for a team picture.
Another fan commented that the beard means that Maye is locked in for the 2026 season. The fan wrote, “Beard coming in, he’s locked in for the szn.”

One fan teased another nickname for Maye after seeing the new look.
“Drake “Drake grew a beard Maye” Maye,” the fan wrote.
Beard or no beard, Maye will lead the Patriots into the 2026 NFL season with hopes of getting back to the Super Bowl and ultimately winning the big game.
