The Cincinnati Bengals have been active in free agency, as the franchise looks to make it back to the postseason, having missed out in the last couple of seasons.

With the offense set, the defense is where help is needed, and the Bengals signed defensive lineman Jonathan Allen to a two-year deal worth up to $28 million with incentives.

It gives the Bengals more of a pass-rush threat, with Allen a stud in Washington and Minnesota.

And speaking with the media, Allen has made quite a statement about the Bengals and what 2026 can potentially bring.

“This is one of the few places I can compete for a Super Bowl and have a chance to showcase my talent,” Allen said via the Bengals’ official website. “When you see what they have on the offensive side of the ball, that’s a dream for a defensive lineman. I think people would be lining up to play with a guy like Joe Burrow and the offense they have. Then the young guys you have on defense and the pieces you’re adding, I really think this team is going somewhere.”

Bengals Super Bowl worthy in 2026?

Given what the Bengals have on offense with Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins, if injuries stay away, the offense alone can get this team to the playoffs.

But the defense has to pull its weight, which it hasn’t for the past couple of seasons. Yes, there’s been the odd good performance, but overall, it has left a lot to be desired.

With Allen, the hope is that the defense can see an uptick in form, and who knows, the Bengals might not be done adding pieces this offseason.

But as far as Allen’s Super Bowl comment, Cincinnati has the offense to do it, but does it have the defense?

Time will tell.
