Another Carolina Panthers free agent is reportedly headed to the Motor City.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum is has agreed to terms with the Detroit Lions. Per Pelissero, the 28-year-old pass rusher is expected to sign a one-year pact worth up to $6 million.
After spending the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings, Wonnum came over to Carolina on a two-year deal ahead of the 2024 campaign. He went on to start in 23 of his 24 regular-season outings for the Panthers—amassing 79 combined tackles, 7.0 sacks, an interception, four passes defensed and a forced fumble.
Wonnum is set to join former Panthers teammate and center Cade Mays, who landed a three-year, $25 million contract from the Lions last week.
