Aside from Pitt’s, which takes place at facility it shares with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penn State’s pro day might have been the easiest commute for the black and gold’s decision makers to make. However, they chose to do homework for next month’s 2026 NFL Draft elsewhere.
Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Omar Khan decided instead to attend Georgia’s pre-draft showcase, while they only sent college scout Jimmy Noel to Happy Valley to take in the Nittany Lions’.
Some of Penn State’s top prospects include guard Olaivavega Ioane, who’s been projected to be taken by the Steelers in the first round of a handful of mock drafts, and quarterback Drew Allar. The Steelers did formally meet with Allar at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Allar grew up a Cleveland Browns fan and attended plenty of their games with his family’s season tickets. Allar could’ve declared for last year’s draft, but opted to return to Penn State for one more go-round. It didn’t go exactly as he planned.
“Obviously, it’s not what I envisioned,” Allar said. “I’m a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. I’ve just taken this opportunity through this injury to better myself, both as a person, a teammate, and as a player. So, I wouldn’t change a thing. Everything happens for a reason. I’m a firm believer in that. I know everything’s gonna work out for the best in the long run.”
