Texas Medical Board suspends Houston physician’s license after his arrest on child porn possession charge

  • March 19, 2026

HOUSTON – The Texas Medical Board has suspended the license of a Houston doctor following his arrest on a possession of child pornography charge.

An Q. Van was arrested on Feb. 12 for the state charge. Records show he posted an $80,000 bond and was released from jail but was arrested again on federal charges in March.

So far, the FBI has not shared details about what led to his arrest on federal charges.

A document for the Order of Temporary Suspension on the Texas Medical Board’s website states the investigation started in March 2025, when the Houston Police Department received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with notice that Meta identified a user that appeared to be a child victim.

Subsequent investigation determined the victim as a resident of the Philippines.

Police contacted the victim by email in Nov. 2025 and learned she was 15 years old.

The victim said Van had been threatening her since she was 10.

The victim told police she had sent nude photos to Van, and he had threatened to release them to her friends and family.

The document says the victim provided police several images that had been sent to Van as well as screenshots of their communications on Discord.

On Feb. 12, HPD executed a warrant at Van’s home and found an external hard drive hidden in a toilet tank containing over fifty images of child pornography, according to the document.

The Texas Medical Board found that Van’s continued practice of medicine constitutes a continuing threat to the public and suspended his license effective immediately.
