Overall, Jefferson posted an overall PFF defense grade of 70.8 last season, which tied for 20th among safeties with at least 500 snaps.

And if you were wondering who helps set the tone in the Chargers secondary, the rib-rattling hits Jefferson delivered on a bitterly cold December day against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium left no doubt.

Who cares if Jefferson was ejected from that game?

The hits were clean and also sent a message to Kansas City that the Chargers defense wasn’t playing around with the wind chill at just 10 degrees.

As Jefferson returns to the safety room, he’ll fit right back in with a group that includes Derwin James Jr., Elijah Molden, RJ Mickens and Kendall Williamson.

With James roaming around the slot and near the line of scrimmage, Jefferson is now an option (along with Mickens) play deep next to Molden.

And keep in mind that Jefferson knows Chris O’Leary well from 2024 when the now- Chargers Defensive Coordinator was the safeties coach.

Bringing Jefferson back is a shrewd move from Chargers General Manager Joe Hortiz as it will positively impact the Bolts on and off the field.

Because even at the age of 34, Jefferson seems to be getting better with age in the NFL.
