Another former Arizona Cardinals player is landing elsewhere. After being released by the Cardinals before free agency began, linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither signed a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts.
He is reunited with Lou Anarumo, the Colts’ defensive coordinator.
Davis-Gaither played the first five seasons of his career for the Cincinnati Bengals. Anarumo was their defensive coordinator then. He signed a two-year, $10 million contract to join the Cardinals last offseason.
With the Cardinals, he played in all 17 games and started 13. He had a career-high 113 tackles, two tackles for loss, a quarterback hit, an interception, a career-high five pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He also led the Cardinals with 20 total special teams tackles.
However, he was cut, presumably for cap reasons.
